Ciao a tutte! smile

I’m Laura - an Italian with a deep passion for the Middle East. I’ve spent a few years living, studying, and working in the region, which really shaped my personal and professional path.

For the past ten years, I’ve been working in capacity development, mainly around gender and labour rights. Most of that time has been with the International Training Centre of the ILO, both as staff and currently as a consultant.

I'm a very curious person and learning is truly my passion! I see myself as a lifelong learner, and what I enjoy most about this work is how much it allows me to grow by learning from others. That’s actually why I prefer the term facilitator” over “trainer” - I always leave a session feeling nurtured by the experience and by everything I’ve learned from participants.

I’m really looking forward to sharing, reflecting, and being nurtured by our conversations in this space - both the joys and the challenges of the work we do.

Have a great weekend and see you on Monday!

Laura

Nice to meet you, Laura! I also come from a background working in the Middle East, mostly Palestine and Jordan. Is this where much of your work is still focused? I'd be interested to learn more during the week about your work in gender and labour rights and best practices you've used to build capacity - I also did a bit of this when working with gender awareness in the private sector and within USAID's economic growth technical offices for a few missions. Depending on the sector there were some unique challenges we encountered.

Excited to learn together this week!

Best,
Connor

Hi Connor,

So lovely to meet you! It's always great to connect with someone who has a similar background — your work in Palestine and Jordan sounds fascinating, and I’d really love to hear more about it. While I know the Levantine context fairly well, my focus over the past few years has been more on Egypt, where I worked on an EU-funded project supporting women’s empowerment.

Also, I’m really sorry to hear about the USAID funding cuts — that must be incredibly frustrating, especially when such important work is at stake.

Looking forward to chatting more and exchanging ideas!

Laura
